Press Release
YOKOHAMA HITS THE MARKET WITH TREND-SETTING SUV TIRE
Yokohama's PARADA Spec-X Brings New Sizes to the Oversized SUV Market.

FULLERTON, CA (November 1, 2005) Yokohama Tire Corporation's trend-setting brand, PARADA, is introducing another tire exclusive to the US. Following the arrival of the PARADA Spec-2 three years ago, Yokohama is proud to finally launch the next tire in the PARADA line to the custom/tuner market, the PARADA Spec-X.

Many of the tires that are being used in this highly cosmetic market stay with the theme of "just for looks". Keeping with the Yokohama brand's promise of "uncompromising performance", the PARADA Spec-X had to go through rigorous testing before entering the marketplace. Now buyers looking for that edgy/stylish look can also feel confident in the tires all-season capabilities when buying the PARADA Spec-X.

Setting the PARADA Spec-X apart from the competition is the combination of its many features. From basic construction that keeps the appropriate market in mind, to the unique tread design and multi-size line-up, the PARADA Spec-X gives the custom/tuner market more options on a variety of cars.

The construction of the tire starts with the reinforced shoulder blocks that allow the PARADA Spec-X to provide stability and even tread wear when being used on the heaviest trucks and SUVs. Next are the heat reduction dimples. These dimples end up assisting the tire to wear evenly by relieving heat build-up while driving. Possibly the most important construction feature is the rim protector sidewall. Many custom car enthusiasts spend more on their wheels than anything else. With this in mind Yokohama designed the PARADA Spec-X with a special sidewall that protects wheels from damage.

The tread of the PARADA Spec-X is what really makes the tire unique. The aggressive directional tread pattern coupled with the constant rubber-to-road contact increases the tire's acceleration and braking capabilities while providing excellent grip in dry conditions and increasing hydroplaning resistance which maintains wet weather driving stability. Adding to the wet weather handling is the water evacuating capabilities by the single circumferential groove. To add to the comfort and style of tires, the unique tread design that incorporates Yokohama's variable pitch technology reduces tire noise and the chance for uneven wear.

"This tire will be the choice of the buyer who wants his vehicle to have the ultimate in stylish looks but needs the performance of an all-season radial," said Mark Chung, Director of Strategic Marketing for Yokohama. "The PARADA Spec-X will force competitors to make their cosmetic tires perform."

The PARADA Spec-X will be available in 22 sizes to fit light trucks, SUVs and some larger sedans ranging from 20 inch to 24-inch diameter with overall widths as wide as 15 inches.
